A repeatable model–mesh–solve workflow

Workflow implemented
My contribution

Abaqus Python automation & design comparison

I wrote Abaqus Python scripts for batch modeling, meshing and solving, then used the resulting cases to compare composite design choices.

Project goal

Composite design involves repeated choices about layup, fiber angle and thickness. I turned repeated finite-element setup into a scripted workflow for comparing stiffness and mass across candidate structures.

Design choices

Parameterize the study

Express layup, angle and thickness as study variables so alternative cases can be generated systematically.

Automate repeated operations

Script the model–mesh–solve sequence in Abaqus Python to reduce repeated manual setup.

Compare engineering tradeoffs

Compare stiffness and mass across candidate designs, retaining the case definition needed to interpret each result.

Development

  1. Define variables

Set the layup, angle and thickness alternatives to compare.

  2. Generate & solve

Run scripted model creation, mesh generation and analysis.

  3. Review alternatives

Compare simulation results to guide composite structure selection.
